Indonesia: Mass layoffs reported at multiple factories due to lack of orders; incl. co. responses

In March 2025, mass layoffs at factories across Indonesia were reported, for example:

  • It was reported that PT Chingluh in Indonesia laid off 2000 workers from the factory, due to a lack of orders.
  • It was reported that PT Adis Dimension Footwear in Indonesia laid off 1500 workers from the factory, due to a lack of orders.

In September 2025, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited adidas (reported buyer from PT Chingluh), Nike (reported buyer from PT Chingluh and PT Adis Dimension Footwear) and Reebok (reported buyer from PT Chingluh) to respond. Nike and adidas responded. Reebok did not. The responses can be found below.
