Business & Human Rights Resource Centre wrote to Sinohydro and its parent company, Power China, to invite the companies to respond to news of a worker death on a Singapore construction site where Sinohydro is the worksite occupier. This included disclosing how standards are upheld on worksites by Sinohydro and among its subcontractors - including the worker's employer DKS Builders. The death is reportedly the second workplace fatality in a week, in a sector and country where risks to workers in the construction and engineering sectors are well-documented. The national water agency PUB said it was in touch with contractors to "offer help to the family of the dead man".

An unnamed man was arrested for negligence causing death while the Ministry of Manpower ordered a timeout on the worksite while safety procedures are reviewed. Neither Sinohydro nor Power China responded to the Resource Centre's invitation to do so.
