India: US garment buyers reportedly halting orders & demanding discounts following steep tariff hike; incl. co. non-response

In October 2025, it was reported that garment exporters were shutting down operations and laying off workers, after US buyers reportedly halted orders and demanded steep discounts in response to the US tariffs. One exporter alleged that buyers, including Walmart, were allegedly demanding 20–25% discounts on present and future orders.

In March 2026, Business & Human Rights Centre invited Walmart to respond. It did not.
