Indigenous rights NGOs Aliansi Masyarakat Adat Nusantara (AMAN) Sumbawa chapter and the Asia Indigenous Peoples Network on Extractive Industries and Energy (AIPNEE) submitted complaints to the National Contact Points (NCPs) of Australia, Belgium, South Korea, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States against 14 multinational companies linked to PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (PT AMNT) over alleged human rights and environmental impacts of the Elang Project—PT AMNT's mining expansion in Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara.

The article alleged that the companies failed to comply with the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct by not using their leverage over PT AMNT to prevent and mitigate human rights and environmental violations against the Cek Bocek community. The project was alleged to have proceeded without the Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) of the Cek Bocek community. The article also alleged that the project's National Strategic Project status escalated the risks of forced eviction, criminalization of land defenders, and irreversible destruction of their ancestral forests.

In July, Business and Human Rights Centre invited PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara; PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk' Australian Winders Pty Ltd; Macmahon Holdings Ltd; R. Moore & Sons; Bureau Veritas Minerals Pty Ltd; Bachelet Laboratories; LS Metals & Materials Inc.; Glencore International AG; Hartree Metals Sárl; Kuehne + Nagel International AG; UBS Group AG; Anglo American Marketing Ltd; Alfred H Knight International Ltd; BlackRock Advisors Ltd and Thermo Fisher Scientific to respond to allegations.

Australian Winders Pty Ltd, LS Metals & Materials Inc., Anglo American Marketing Ltd, UBS Group AG, Glencore International AG, Hartree Metals Sárl, and Alfred H Knight International Ltd responded but the others did not.
