Organisations such as the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities (CONAIE) and the National Anti-Mining Front denounced violent repression by members of the National Police in the sector of Las Naves (Bolívar) on 24 July, in the midst of disagreement over mining projects.

Communities have been violently repressed when they have been resisting for more than a month the Curipamba-El Domo mining project, concessioned to the company Curimining (a joint venture between Salazar Resources and Silvercorp Metals). According to reports, peasants prevented the entry of mining machinery as a form of protest. People were reported injured, including a minor.
