On 10 July 2026, SafeWork NSW, the workplace health and safety regulator for the state of New South Wales, launched a prosecution against Italian company Webuild in relation to two incidents in which it alleged the company had exposed workers to a serious risk of injury or death. Webuild pleaded not guilty to the matters and committed to defending them.

Court proceedings began on 13 July. On 27 July, The ABC published details of a worker's testimony, who alleged he had been instructed to use a broken drill, exposing him to injury.
