Ural Department of Rostekhnadzor completes investigation into a serious accident at the Nadezhdinsky Metallurgical Plant, 8 December 2025

The Ural Department of the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Supervision (Rostekhnadzor) has completed an investigation into a serious accident that occurred on 10 October 2025 at the hazardous production facility “Blast Furnace Shop Site” operated by PJSC Nadezhdinsky Metallurgical Plant.

The following causes of the incident were identified:

• deficiencies in the technological process, including slag–metal crust entering the pouring trough of the casting machine and incomplete presentation of safety requirements in the technological instructions;
  
• inadequate organization of production operations and lack of control over compliance with procedures for pouring molten metal.
  

A decision was made to hold the officials responsible for the violations administratively liable under Part 3 of Article 9.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation.

The implementation of measures to eliminate the causes of the accident is under the supervision of the Department.
