Sumitomo Corp's response to allegations

.... Please find our response below.

  • Tin Nhan Co., Ltd. supplied wood pellets to Sumitomo Corporation under a spot transaction in 2025. We do not currently have any ongoing business transactions with the company.
  • Asia Creative Energy (ACE) is a current supplier of wood pellets to Sumitomo Corporation. Following the publication of the Mekong Eye article and the inquiry received from the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre (BHRC), we sought clarification from ACE regarding the matters raised.

According to information provided by ACE, the company received a notice from local authorities in June 2026 concerning dust and smoke emissions at its Dung Quat facility. ACE informed us that it conducted an investigation into the incident and implemented corrective measures, including modifications to its boiler system. ACE has further stated that the issue has been addressed and that the facility is currently operating in accordance with applicable requirements.

ACE has also informed us that it maintains procedures for environmental monitoring and for receiving and addressing community grievances. Sumitomo Corporation will continue to engage with ACE and monitor relevant developments and information related to this matter...
