A New York Times news report released in August 2023 had alleged Jiangsu Delong Group of multiple labour violations and community impacts from its Obsidian Stainless Steel and Virtue Dragon Nickle Industry factory in Indonesia.

The Obsidian Stainless Steel factory, has allegedly disrupted local farming. Farmer's rice paddies were allegedly destroyed when a concrete wall, built by the factory, redirected stormwater onto her fields, ruining a $1,200 crop. Steaming waste dumps and suspected toxins harm fish farming, while her husband and son struggle to find factory jobs. The smokestacks overshadow her livelihood.

Chines migrant workers for Virtue Dragon Nickle Industry in Indonesia found work at the park via an intermediary. according to the report, their passports were taken away as soon as they got off the plane. They then found that their salary had been changed from CNY 15,000 (around US$2,200) per month to a monthly subsidy of just CNY 1,000 (about US$150). According to CLW and media interviews with these workers, when they wanted to leave, the agency asked them to pay CNY50,000 (about US$7,400) each to get their passports back.

The Business and Human Rights Centre had reached out to Jiangsu Delong Group for comments. They did not respond.
