India: Indigenous group resists coal mining operated by Adani Group over alleged rights abuse & environmental damage, incl. co. non-response
In April, Indigenous tribe in Chhattisgarh, India was reportedly resisting Gare Pelma Sector II coal-mining project operated by the Adani Group. The Indigenous community claimed that the project directly violates laws, puts community members at risk of being displaced, destroys sacred ancestral forests, and causes severe environmental pollution in the region. The project is alleged to impact about 500 other Indigenous Oroan households.
In May, Business and Human Rights Centre requested Adani Group to respond to the allegations, but it did not.
