Update to our policy briefing: For the sake of accuracy, we wish to note that, since the publication of our briefing last year, Just Share has engaged further with Sasol regarding its response, particularly its statement that "Sasol’s submissions to regulatory authorities during public participation processes related to regulatory developments are regarded as public records.

Just Share alleges that, despite this position, it has requested access to Sasol’s submissions on the following matters and that such requests have been refused:

• The draft second NDC;
• The Taxation Laws Amendment Bill, 2025;
• The draft National GHG Carbon Budget and Mitigation Plan Regulations and Technical Guidance, 2025; and
• The 2025 proposed amendments to the Listed Activities and associated MES.

On this basis, Just Share contends that Sasol’s earlier statement is inaccurate.

To reiterate our position, Sasol has not denied Just Share access to the requested records. We have requested that it formally requests these documents via the process explained in our PAIA manual.
