Conmebol did not respond to lack of concrete action against racism

We invite Conmebol to comment on the following allegations:

  • Leaders of Brazilian football teams point to a lack of concrete action against racism by Conmebol;
  • Conmebol failed to apply adequate punishment to the offenders responsible for racist offences against Palmeiras players Luighi and Figueiredo, who were harassed and called monkeys; failing to follow protocol established by FIFA;
  • Conmebol president Alejandro Dominguez, faced with the possibility of Brazilian teams boycotting the Libertadores da América competition, made a statement that was repudiated by the Brazilian federal government, saying that the Libertadores without Brazil is like ‘Tarzan without Cheetah’.

Conmebol did not respond.
