Three workers from the League of Poor Peasants (LCP), a social movement that fights for the "agrarian revolution" in Rondônia, were killed during police action in the rural area of Porto Velho. Amarildo Aparecido Rodrigues, Amaral José Stoco Rodrigues and Kevin Fernando Holanda de Souza were in the Ademar Ferreira occupation, in the rural district of Nova Mutum Paraná, 150 kilometres from the urban area of Porto Velho, when they were killed by police officers from the Batalhão de Choque and Batalhão de Operações Especiais (BOPE). The region where the police action occurred is in an area of intense agrarian conflict. Lawyers from the Brazilian Association of People's Lawyers (Abrapo), a non-profit organization that defends the campers, collected the testimony of seven survivors of the police attack. They recounted moments of panic with shots fired from two helicopters. The survivors heard noises of gunshots when they were inside their huts or working in the fields and ran into the bush to hide. According to reports, they stayed hidden and during the night they moved to the Tiago dos Santos camp, also organised by the LCP. One of the survivors said he passed by a large pool of blood, next to a backpack and a bottle of water.
