EU: Updates on the 'digital Omnibus' proposal by the European Commission

In November 2025, the European Commission announced its intention to 'simplify' major pieces of EU digital legislation through a 'digital Omnibus' including the AI Act, the GDPR, the ePrivacy directive and the Data Act.

European Digital Rights (EDRi), a pan-European network of NGOs, warned that the plans amount to 'a major rollback of EU digital protections' and could undermine 'the very foundations of human rights and tech policy in the EU'.
