Lynas is the only commercial producer of separated light and heavy rare earth oxides outside of China. The primary markets for rare earths are electric vehicles, wind turbines, consumer electronics and automation.
Lynas first signed a contract with the U.S. Government to support supply chain resilience for U.S. manufacturers in 2021. The recent agreement to supply $96m worth of rare earth oxides over a 4 year period is for the U.S. industrial base and broader industry development, particularly for research, development, test, and evaluation purposes related to permanent magnet production.
