Shimano are investigating these serious allegations, and we are waiting their findings. We have a very strict ethical sourcing code which all our direct suppliers must adhere to. The code requires all workers to be treated fairly and in an accordance with internationally recognised standards, including the International Labour Organisation’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. All our suppliers must ensure compliance throughout their supply chains as well as in their own facilities. We understand that the factory in question is a component manufacturer that supplies Shimano directly, who in turn supply our bike assembly partners. It is not clear at this stage if any of the components originating in this factory are used in Halfords bikes and we are investigating this as a priority.
