To this end, the company implements a comprehensive set of measures and conducts systematic work to minimize negative environmental impacts, continuously improving environmental safety and sustainable development...

Ulba Metallurgical Plant JSC has an Environmental Protection Action Plan for 2023–2027. The Plan provides for measures aimed at reducing emissions into the environment in the areas of air protection, water bodies, waste management, and the protection of flora and fauna. A total of 1,488.3 million tenge was actually spent on the implementation of the Plan for 2023–2025.

Ulba Metallurgical Plant’s share of emissions into the atmosphere of Ust-Kamenogorsk is negligible, accounting for less than 0.1% of the city’s total industrial emissions.

This is achieved through the use of multi-stage exhaust air purification systems. To prevent pollutants from entering the atmosphere, the plant employs cyclones, scrubbers and filters that capture up to 99% of harmful particles.

Control is carried out at 242 emission sources. Monitoring is conducted using instrumental measurements and calculation methods. In accordance with schedules, employees of a specialized laboratory take samples, perform measurements, and monitor environmental performance characteristics. Measurements are taken of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere, ambient air at the industrial site, at the boundary of the sanitary protection zone in the residential area and at its border, stormwater and sewage discharges, surface water, groundwater, artesian and domestic drinking water, soil, snow cover, contamination of pedestrian and vehicle routes and production waste...

The annual limits for atmospheric emissions of pollutants from the industrial site of Ulba Metallurgical Plant JSC in Ust-Kamenogorsk are approximately 68 tons per year. Over the past 10 years, the actual maximum emissions from Ulba Metallurgical Plant JSC in Ust-Kamenogorsk have not exceeded 51 tons per year.

In 2025, the actual gross emissions from Ulba Metallurgical Plant JSC in Ust-Kamenogorsk totaled 30.349 tons, of which: beryllium – 0.0014 tons, ammonia – 15.277 tons, hydrofluoride – 0.612 tons, nitrogen dioxide – 0.653 tons, sulfuric acid – 0.137 tons, sulfur dioxide – 0.060 tons.

It should also be noted that, based on the results for 2025, no exceedances of the established limits for harmful substances were recorded. Moreover, the plant’s emissions are below the established annual limits. Emissions from Ulba Metallurgical Plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk in 2025 decreased by 6.9% compared to emissions in 2024...
